The Mill

The Mill is a two bedroom Gite that sleeps four people. Downstairs is a large open plan area comprising a kitchen/diner and lounge. There is also a shower room and WC. The lounge area is spacious and comfortable. Equipped with a stereo and a selection of CD's it also plays MP3 CD's or has a port so you can plug in your own music (ipod etc). There is a satelite TV that plays most UK freeview channels and a DVD player. The lounge also has a woodburning stove and the original mill stone, with stairs leading up to the first floor. Outside there is a very private rear patio accessed through french doors from the lounge. Outside the front there is a large open space that enjoys the morning sun, ideal for breakfast.

Despite being next to the river we do not get many, if any bites, probably due to the fish, the Damsel flies and Dragon flies.

The mill is sited next to a very large barn which dwarfs the mill despite it being reasonably large for two bedrroms.

The first floor has two bedrooms and a WC. Bedroom one has a queensize (200x160cm) bed and bedroom two has two singles. Main bedroom pictured right.

The oak kitchen is fully equipped with gas hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. The dining area is at one end of the kitchen and seats four (pic below).

The Mill is adjacent to the river with access to the island created by the millstream. There are french doors from the lounge to the outside with a very private patio area that overlooks the old paddock. There is a gas BBQ, parasol, table and chairs for al fresco dining.

The confluence of the millstream and river is adjacent to the rear patio area and is a lovely spot for a good read in the cool shade of the trees.

The lounge has a solid chestnut floor and seats four comfortably. It features the original millstone with some of the driving mechanism. The front patio area is great for sunny breakfasts and the rear patio is totally private and catches the afternoon sun from midday onwards.

The mill dates from the 1700's. France had thousands of water-driven mills and today there are still many 'moulin' sites down every river valley.

The mill is over a hundred yards from the house and is very private. The rear patio which is adjacent to the river, is not overlooked from any direction. When breakfasting in the front you may wave at the house guests but you are too faraway to hear them.
